Hello, I’m Nelson

All my life I was a stray cat. I had no home. The only thing I had was an elderly woman who fed me and other stray cats. She was the only light in my darkness. The only hands that brought food. But when the night came, I was all alone with the cold.

Living in harsh outside conditions affected my health. My skin began to burn and wounds appeared on my body. My fur fell out in patches. I was getting weaker… My only care taker thought it was the end for me and asked the shelter staff for help. They took me to the vet and that’s when we heard something unexpected — I wasn’t dying. I just had severe dermatitis. Painful. Neglected.

But treatable. Another thing vets discovered: I am FIV positive. It means my immune system is weaker, but I can still live a long, happy life — especially in a loving indoor home.

And that’s when everything changed. The shelter took me in. They treated me. They kept me warm. They showed me kindness and love. My wounds healed. My fur grew back – soft and shiny. Now, when I look at myself, I no longer see a broken shadow from the streets, but a beautiful, dignified cat.

I’m calm, very gentle, a fluffy little teddy bear. I’m about 7 years old. I’m neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and I use the litter box perfectly. Most importantly – I’m simply a good cat.

Now I’m looking for a home. A real one. Where I won’t be a story of pity, but a story of love.
