Adoption Process

In the step-by-step guide below, you can read about our adoption process, starting from the application form to inform of us your interest to adopt a rescue cat or apply to rescue a dog.

After you’ve sent the application, you should receive an email from one of our adoption coordinators within a few days (please remember to check your spam folder!). If you don’t see a response within a week, you can always reach out to us via email or on social media to follow up.

01 – Apply

After you find a pet you would like to adopt, complete an application form. This will request information about you, your family and your living circumstances, which helps us assess if the pet will match you. Filling out the form does not obligate you to anything yet.

02 – Call with us

After we receive your online form, we will contact you to schedule a video chat. We ask you to have some patience since we need to discuss your application with a shelter, which could take some time. You should hear from us within 2 weeks.

If you apply for a dog, you will have a second call. Sometimes a second call will be required for cats.

03 – Questions from/for the shelter

If everything looks good after the video chat, you will have an opportunity to ask questions to the shelter. You can find out more about the character of the pet, what kind of issues you can anticipate once the pet is at your home, and other important questions can be addressed.

04 – Home check

Instead of a physical home check, you will be asked to send us a video of your home with detailed explanations of your home environment, where the pet would stay, etc. This is a great opportunity for us to get to know a little more about you, how you are planning to take care of the pet, and your pet’s future with you. You would, for example, introduce yourself and your family members or other pets, tell us where the pet would sleep, etc.

This is a very important part of the adoption procedure. We want to ensure that the pet is joining a home that meets its needs, with a family who will provide care and comfort.

05 – Contract and Prepare for transport

If you are the selected adopter, we require that you read and sign the adoption contract and send it back to your Adoption Coordinator.

We will now begin booking your pet’s transport and ensure that all travel and health paperwork is in place. We will be in touch as soon as we have details about your pet’s rehoming date, journey details and approximate times. It could take around one month until your pet will travel to you.

Your pet will receive all the necessary vaccinations, veterinary checks and paperwork needed to travel. If you would like to have additional health tests (such as a blood test), please let us know in advance. This can be arranged at an additional cost.

06 – Adoption fee

The total adoption amount depends on the transportation and the shelter costs.

Cats: from €260 to €280

Dogs: from €360 to €420

This amount partially covers the cost of finding them their new home and supporting the partner shelter which has cared for them until their travel date. This partially includes the costs of sterilization / castration, vaccinations, EU passport, micro-chipping and any further veterinary treatment needed. It also covers the cost of onward transportation, and all necessary admin required to prepare them for travel.

If you have any questions, you can always contact us by email.
