Some dogs arrive at the shelter and instantly you think: “This one won’t stay long.” And those were the exact thoughts of shelter volunteers when they saw Balbo. Friendly, beautiful, smart 💞– it looked like his forever home was just around the corner. And yet… it’s been three years, and he’s still waiting.

He came to the shelter with a broken chain around his neck. And we all know what that means: he was kept chained outside, tied to a doghouse.

Balbo is an amazing dog: loyal, joyful, energetic, cheerful, friendly, and very people-oriented (when he goes on walks, he constantly looks back to make sure the person walking him is right next to him).

But he also is able to calmly enjoy quiet moments with a human. Balbo longs for a real family, someone to join on long adventures and share warm, peaceful evenings.

When other dogs pass by, he doesn’t react – his full attention is on the person walking him. He might be good with cats, but that would need to be tested.
