Jukis
Meet JUKIS!![]()
![]()
This dog was brought from Pakruojis. He was taken due to neglect and extremely poor living conditions — left unfed and kept in a rotten doghouse next to a barn surrounded by garbage.
It’s painful to say, but this is still the reality in some Lithuanian villages…
Animals become hostages of irresponsible owners. Why do they keep them? No one knows…
Jukis lived like this for an unknown amount of time until March 28, 2024, when he finally came to the shelter — scared, timid, and completely unsocialized.
Now he has recovered
— he’s playful and cheerful, but there is still a battle inside his heart.
He wants to be pet, he craves attention… yet at the same time he pulls away, as if afraid.
Perhaps he experienced abuse — which would explain why he sometimes flinches at touch and tries to keep his distance.
Jukis gets along with other dogs (unless provoked), is indifferent to cats, and is very interested in people — he truly enjoys their attention
.
Jukis was born in 2019. Although he’s not a senior yet, he has already gone grey early, perhaps because of everything he has been through.
JUKIS’ CHARACTER: Active, playful, but somewhat restless—likely due to the shelter environment. When taken out for a walk, he takes a long time to settle down. However, if you spend more time with him, he gradually calms and his anxiety decreases. He seems to want affection, but at the same time may quickly pull away or jump back. When called again, he returns willingly.![]()
DOGS/CATS: He has no issues with other dogs—he doesn’t rush to initiate contact and can pass by them calmly unless provoked. When taken near the cat enclosure, he showed interest and wagged his tail.
PEOPLE: He gets along well with all people—both adults and children can walk him, and he is friendly and approachable with everyone.
